Bridge The Gap Between Your People and Your Process

Our churches are founded on faith, and built for believers, and its believers are – last we checked – people, right?

Then, by virtue of the transitive property, these faith-founded churches are in the ‘business’ of people. People believe. People volunteer. People fill the pews and small groups. We are – or should be – people people.

When we all come together to pray, to give, to learn and to connect, we form a faith family – intentionally or not – because our shared beliefs bring us together; they unite us arguably more so than just about any other shared human interest.

And that sense of community encourages growth – our hearts grow in faith and our pews grow in numbers. But the bigger and more extended a family becomes, the harder it is to stay intimately connected with everyone. If you’ve ever been to a family reunion, invariably, you’ll find yourself asking, “Whose cousin is that?” and “What’s his name again?”

But instead of turning to an equally forgetful relative for help remembering your family tree, you can turn to technology to help you stay intimately connected to the Aunt Ednas and twice-removed cousin Huberts of your church.

Technology like church management software serves to bridge the gap between your people and your process; between the heart and mind. It is as crucial for establishing and fostering relationships as it is for helping leaders identify potential issues, and acts as the safety net to ensure no one is falling through the cracks.

It helps you learn – and record – as much as you can about each person so you can better cater to their likes, dislikes, interests and gifts.

When you have a large staff and congregation, the data can easily tell you if a member’s giving has declined for the year – or if someone has given for the very first time. It can tell you when someone has attended several Bible studies but has never volunteered – or if someone has stopped attending altogether.

Data can tell a story that reveals incredible ministry opportunities that you may otherwise miss; cold, calculated data helps you deliver the warm, personal touch that builds trust and connection – and, over time, the number of disciples in your church!
