- Measure and analyze data at both a macro and a micro level. Taking a look at the big picture is important. However, diving into the individual giving behaviors and growth in generosity within the lives of your individual church members is even more valuable. This is one reason why I believe every senior pastor should know who gives and how much.
- Benchmark data to determine a baseline. The first step is to identify a starting point. Without one, you have no idea whether or not you’re headed in the right direction.
- Develop key performance metrics for appropriate ministry leaders. Overall giving is just one metric your church should consider when leveraging data to fuel ministry growth. The 'untapped data' that can provide deeper insights is where the real opportunities are found.
- Automate the process. You can easily create reports to review on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Having these automated processes in place on the front end will make it a lot easier to develop the habit of evaluating the data.
